Exploring the Luminous Lagoon

The Luminous Lagoon is a natural bioluminescent bay located in Falmouth, Jamaica. Millions of microscopic organisms emit a bright blue-green glow when you disturb the water.

The lagoon forms where the Martha Brae River empties into the Caribbean Sea. The mixture of salt and fresh water creates an ideal brackish environment for dinoflagellates. Nightly boat tours take visitors out onto the bay to see the glowing water firsthand.

Standard entry tickets start from $25 for adults and $12.50 for children under 10. Tours last 35 to 45 minutes and include a designated swimming stop.
